Men’s Multivitamins: An Important Correction on “Hormone Support”
Men’s Multivitamins and Minerals formula combines 25 vitamins and minerals — including vitamin D3, B-complex, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and selenium — with maca root and Panax ginseng extracts. As covered in more detail in our supplements for men over 40 guide, most nutrients here have established roles reflecting normal physiological function — B vitamins in energy metabolism, magnesium and potassium in normal muscle function including the heart, and antioxidants (vitamins A, C, E, selenium, zinc) in protecting cells from oxidative stress.
It’s important to correct the “hormone support” and testosterone framing specifically: as covered in more detail in our maca root guide, rigorous human trials testing maca specifically have found it does not change testosterone, LH, FSH, or prolactin levels — this has been replicated across multiple studies. Maca’s genuine, better-supported research area is libido and sexual function, which appears to work through a different, non-hormonal pathway. Framing maca as contributing to “maintaining proper testosterone levels” isn’t supported by the research on maca specifically. Similarly, zinc’s role in testosterone is genuinely strongest for correcting an actual deficiency, not for boosting levels in men who already have adequate zinc status — if you’re concerned about low testosterone specifically, this is worth testing and discussing with your GP, not something a multivitamin addresses.
Panax ginseng is studied for stress resilience and general energy, though it isn’t established as a substitute for hormone therapy or a direct testosterone-related treatment either — our Korean ginseng guide covers this in more detail.
On “anti-aging” claims specifically: standard multivitamin doses of vitamins A, C, and E do have established antioxidant roles, but claims about “promoting collagen production for skin elasticity and joint comfort” from a general multivitamin go further than what’s specifically established at these doses — collagen-specific supplementation (covered in our dedicated collagen guides) has more direct research behind that particular claim.
Worth checking: Men’s Multivitamins doesn’t specify the exact vitamin A content. Given the NHS advises no more than 1.5mg (1,500mcg) of vitamin A daily from supplements combined, it’s worth confirming this figure if you also take a standalone vitamin A supplement, cod liver oil, or eat liver regularly.
Manufactured in the UK to GMP and BRC standards, vegan, with no artificial colours or unnecessary fillers. Take one tablet daily with water, preferably with a meal. Speak to your GP before starting if you take regular medication or have an existing health condition, particularly a thyroid or hormone-sensitive condition given the herbal extracts included.
