Two Corrections Worth Knowing First
This product provides 1480mg of magnesium citrate per daily serving (440mg elemental magnesium), and it’s worth being accurate on a couple of points before anything else, as covered in more detail in our complete magnesium guide.
First, on absorption and digestive comfort specifically: magnesium glycinate, not citrate, is generally considered the gentlest form on digestion — citrate is well absorbed, but it’s specifically known for a mild natural laxative effect at higher doses, which is actually a reasonably common reason some people choose it (for digestive regularity) rather than a drawback. If gentleness on digestion is your priority specifically, glycinate is generally the more appropriate choice over citrate, not the reverse.
Second, on dose: at 440mg elemental magnesium, the standard two-capsule serving sits slightly above the UK’s 400mg daily upper safe level for magnesium from supplements. This isn’t a large excess, but it’s worth knowing — taking one capsule daily (220mg) rather than two keeps you comfortably within this limit if you’re using magnesium for general, ongoing daily support rather than a specific higher-need situation discussed with your GP.
Magnesium is involved in over 300 biochemical reactions, with established roles in normal psychological function, nervous system operation, muscle function, electrolyte balance, energy-yielding metabolism, and reduced tiredness and fatigue. Many people find magnesium citrate reasonable for general use and, given its digestive effect, potentially useful for regularity specifically — though citrate’s association with sleep and relaxation research is similar to other forms, not uniquely stronger.
Worth knowing: if you have kidney disease, check with your GP before starting, since impaired kidneys are less able to clear excess magnesium. If you take bisphosphonate medication (commonly prescribed for osteoporosis), magnesium can significantly reduce its absorption — space doses several hours apart, ideally as advised by your GP or pharmacist.
Capsules are third-party tested by Eurofins for heavy metals and potency, vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO, manufactured in the UK. Take with a full glass of water, preferably with food, and start gradually if you’re new to magnesium supplementation.
