A Correction on Content, Plus the Broader Cardiovascular Picture
This softgel provides 800mg of algae oil delivering 400mg DHA — sourced from Schizochytrium sp. algae, a strain that produces DHA but essentially no EPA. It’s worth correcting a reference elsewhere in this product’s own description calling it an “EPA & DHA supplement” — the confirmed label content is DHA only, which matters if you were specifically looking for a combined EPA/DHA product; algae oils with meaningful EPA content do exist, but this isn’t one of them based on the confirmed label.
DHA does have a well-established, EU-authorised role in normal brain function, maintenance of normal vision, and — during pregnancy and breastfeeding — supporting the mother’s DHA supply for foetal and infant development, which is why this is a genuinely reasonable, safe choice for pregnant or breastfeeding women specifically wanting a plant-based, contaminant-free omega-3 option, as covered in more detail in our omega-3 guide.
On the cardiovascular claim specifically: “supports cardiovascular function” and “maintain healthy cholesterol levels” overstate the current evidence somewhat — a 2020 Cochrane review found that increasing omega-3 intake probably makes little or no difference to cardiovascular mortality or events in the general population, and this research relates mainly to combined EPA/DHA intake rather than DHA alone specifically.
Algae-derived omega-3s carry the same mild blood-thinning properties associated with marine-derived omega-3s, worth knowing if you take anticoagulant medication. This product is free from fish, shellfish, and marine contaminants entirely, genuinely advantageous for anyone avoiding these for allergy, dietary, or contamination-related reasons.
Ingredients: Schizochytrium sp. algae oil, vitamin E (2.58mg, as a natural antioxidant), starch, glycerol, purified water. Vegan, non-GMO, GMP certified. Take one softgel daily with food; two softgels is an option for enhanced support. Speak to your GP before use if you take blood-thinning medication or have an existing health condition.

Vegan Omega-3: Algae Oil, Flaxseed and Hemp Seed Oil Compared
Algae oil, flaxseed oil, and hemp seed oil are all marketed as "vegan omega-3," but they're not interchangeable. Only one of them actually provides the same fatty acid fish oil does. Here's what UK-relevant research and EFSA claims actually show for each.
