What This Formula Provides, and a Safety Note Worth Adding
This product combines 14 bacterial strains, including Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, and Bacillus subtilis, delivering 2 billion CFU (colony-forming units) per capsule. As covered in more detail in our probiotics guide, there’s reasonable evidence probiotics can help with some specific situations — easing some IBS symptoms, for instance, and supporting gut balance after antibiotics — though evidence varies by strain and individual, and probiotics aren’t a universal fix for digestive issues generally. General claims about “enhanced immune function” are best read modestly — the gut-immune connection is genuine and actively researched, but this isn’t the same as a guarantee of fewer infections.
A genuine safety point worth knowing, regardless of how “harmless” probiotics are generally assumed to be: while very rare, documented cases exist of probiotic-associated bloodstream infections, almost exclusively in people who are immunocompromised, critically ill, or have a central venous catheter. If you, or a child you’re considering this for, have a significantly weakened immune system, are undergoing chemotherapy, have had an organ transplant, or are otherwise immunocompromised, check with a GP before starting rather than assuming it’s automatically appropriate. For healthy adults and children, this risk essentially doesn’t apply, and mild, temporary digestive adjustment when starting is the far more common, genuinely harmless experience.
The fermentation process for these cultures involves milk and soya, though the final product contains only trace amounts — this shouldn’t affect lactose intolerance specifically, but anyone with a severe milk or soya allergy (a different, more serious reaction than lactose intolerance) should be aware of this and check with their GP if unsure.
This shelf-stable formula doesn’t require refrigeration, is vegetarian-friendly, and non-GMO. Adults and children over 12: take 1-4 capsules daily with food. Children aged 3-11: 1-2 capsules daily with food — not recommended under 3. If taking antibiotics, take 4 capsules daily at a different time from your medication, continuing for at least two weeks after your course finishes. Speak to your GP before starting if you or your child are immunocompromised, have a severe milk or soya allergy, or have any other existing health condition.
